My local machine guy retired so I need some help. I need two tube extensions made to press inside an axle tube.

It's just a basic cylinder that will have a bevel cut into the corners at the step down so I can weld to it.

It needs to be a tight hammer fit, not sure what that means in thousandths of an inch.
I can not provide material.

Can anyone here help me make this?
I would draw it isometricly but I already screwed this one up a couple times.

Thanks!

I understand that you want a close fit in order to center it...but it's an axle and if you're going to weld it circumferentially you really don't want (to pay for) an actual interference fit. If you didn't machine the bore and have some uncommon-in-a-garage measuring tools then you realllllly don't know how big, round, straight, or full of runout the existing tube is...especially down to tenths (.0001"). You'd be just fine with Ø2.938" +0/-.001 - that translates in Enginerd to a Similar (H7/k6) Fit which is "install with a mallet."

Yeah that's what I'm looking for.
The inside of the tube is machined from an insert that was there for the closed knuckle ball that was there originally. I only need it to give the tube full engagement in the inner c. Its 70% now but I want 100% just to be sure.

Hammer in fit but well located so it is less likely to deflect when welded.

Easy piece to make. Problem is I STILL do not have powered running equipment! I Have to call a machinery service place that Knows machinery electrical to come in and get my machines functioning. My electrical buddy got power to the machines but has no clue how to connect and get running.

I found a shop that that's is there business. Going to cost me about $1200 to $1500 though, Ouch!

my question is does the dana 70 pumkin have oil seals on the inside like a normal front axle ?

the only real closed knuckle axle i played with was a rockwell/eaton under a c60 and the oil seal was out at the ball socket end by the knuckle . i dont think there was a seal in the pumkin side .

but i could be wrong here . just tossing out this idea so you dont get screwed in your plan .

Yeah it does. Just like your normal 60f.
The closed knuckle was greased shafts with captured oil in the diff.
That's why I was pretty excited when I found this axle.
