I need some help finding some documentation on laws against this stuff. I have always been under the assumption that full hydro and driveline brakes were a no go on the road. You need brakes at all four corners and hydro assist of less. Am I wrong? The specific state in question is Texas. Thanks for any help yall

I know that here in California you need to have a steering system that has linkage that is "mechanically" connected at some point, i.e. not fluid in hoses. I know that a drive line brake wont pass for an e-brake, as the rear brakes have to have the ability to be locked at the wheel. I would imagine this would be close to the same. Check your local DMV or DOT website. A CHP officer answered my questions.

i can't see why a driveline e-brake wouldn't be legal.... plenty of cube trucks and such, run em stock from the factory...

i thought that also paul.i know there are a ton of guys running the driveline brake instead of cadi rear calipers for ebrake.id like to hear from other people that have that and have had an inspection.you should be able to look it up on your states dot site and find some info.

Here is what I found for texas on teh brakes

20.02 Brakes - Every passenger car, truck, bus, school bus, and motorcycle shall be equipped with brakes acting on all wheels

20.25 Steering. The steering system of the vehicle must be inspected to determine if excessive wear and/or maladjustment of the steering linkage and/or steering gear exists.

no steering gear exist with full hydro

A driveline brake is legal as the E-brake, not as the only brake. The problem is that most want to use a hydraulic (with a line lock) and the pressure can bleed off so the brake goes away. The driveline e-brakes on cube vans and such all apply with some kind of mechanical device so that once on the user has to release it.
