my buddy wants to do this. thought i would ask here. i would think a few of you have lowerd trucks. its all stock. i know nothing about this. all i know is he will need air bags. we can weld. he is looking for something bolt on. he has a bout 2500 to do this with. so i guess where do we start?

as always thanks for the help.

i'm no entirely sure about this but the ifs front just requires airbags to lower it. as for the back i believe some form of a 3-link setup with a c-notch in the frame, this also means you have to cut up the bed.

if you can weld and build a 3 or 4 link setup then this shouldn't really be a problem, you also have the cut up the fenderwells so the 22's can tuck in the bed.

To lay frame on 22"s requires Airbags all the way around, and a 2,3,or 4 link in the rear. In order to get the front down you will need to modify the following:

Remove front fender wells
Notch the frame just in front of the engine crossmember to clear the Tie Rods when layed out.
Cut 1/2 inch off the exhaust just behind the engine crossmember.
Notch the frame where it comes in contact with the lower control arm when layed out.
You may also need to notch the firewall especially with 22's
You will need to Fabricate custom front shock mounts unless you are going with Synthetic Rubber Airbags I.E. Slam Specialties.

For the rear you would need a link set-up whether it be 2, 3, or 4 link.
You must tub the bed , and notch the frame to clear the axle coming up when layed out.

$2500 will barely cover the cost of the Air management system as well as the bags and all the hardware. Especially if you want bolt on stuff. It gets expensive real quick.

I built the green truck in my Avatar. it is a 95 Chevy c1500 on Bags laying frame. I built the truck to lay out on 20's. I built a custom 2-link with a trac bar for the rear. If you cant weld its probably not something you want to tackle. It is alot of work. Hope this helps.

holy crap. i had no idea on all that. what other places do you know? he was going to get his stuff from air ride. is 22 to big? think be better of with 20s? thanks that was a big help. that is way more then i thought it would be.

As for as where to go there are alot of places selling Airbag components. He can take a look at my store the web address is at the bottom of my signature. I have been selling these components for a awhile i should have everything he needs listed so he can get an idea of what things cost. I try to keep everything as cheap as i can.

As far as Going with Air Ride Technologies.

The Ride Pro e2 series Air management system runs $2195.00. Thats their top of the line system. There are cheaper models it all depends on size of Airline and how fast he wants the system to work.

Rear bolt-on 4 link is $599.00 including bags
Front Bolt on kit is $599.00 including bags
C-Notch runs about $80.00

Then you have to figure all the Fabrication to get the wheels to tuck into the fenders properly. It definitly would be easier to run 20" wheels instead of 22"s
But thats all personal preference.

As far as the bed goes FORGET IT!!!. You will have a huge hump in the middle of the bed rendering it useless. Unless you place items in front or behind the hump. When building a vehicle like this you are sacrifing alot just to have that look.

ok thanks for the help. this is going to be a bit more work then i thought.

so anyone else know of a complete kit? looking for a one shot deal here. i think this is nuts now. on the cheap side 2k just to lower a truck not even complete. thats a lot.

honestly, if you want it cheap and low, i would use one of the drop kits in the jegs catalog (belltech) that will drop the truck 4" and put some 20's on it and air bag in the front only. a lot cheaper with a lot less work involved. however you won't lay frame. so forget that.

looks like hes getting the kit from air ride. over 3500 for what he wants. a lot of cash. will see how it goes putting it on
