LB7 Duramax injectors

really short allen head socket for the valve cover bolts on back near the fire wall, and a couple swivel sockets. and check the engine crossmember when you loose bolt from the top side and they dont hit the ground lol

I will be doing this job this weekend if my injectors make it in by friday. Pretty straight forward unless and injector gets stuck in the cup and the cup comes out.

Noticed thats Titus from lincoln diesel. Thats where I ordered my injectors from. :thumb:

Funny... I was JUST searching for LB7 injectors myself... Gotta replace them on my 01 and put a few miles on it to make sure it is reliable before tearing it all apart to swap everything into my Tahoe!

I didn't read that thread.

But,

Stay organized, mark fuel lines, and make sure the copper washes under the injectors stay in place. I use a bit of axle grease to hold in.place.

Cap off every line/ turbo inlet etc. Make sure you don't kill a turbo because something got in there :)

Be very careful when you tighten down the injector harness on the injector the little studs break off very easy. I broke one off one time at the dealership they weren't happy.

Got it done today. Took 12 hours for my buddy and I to do the job.

Some notes.

A 5 mm hex with ball end is a must.
If said 5 mm ball socket breaks, it's a pain in the ass to get it out. A die grinder is required.

A lug nut from the vehicle fits on the threaded portion of the injector and gives and awesome pry point for a half moon pry bar.

I'll add more tomorrow.

12 hours isn't bad for the first time doing them. Ive done enough of them now that I can do both banks in about 5 hours,12-13 hours is what it takes me to replace head gaskets on a dmax now:doah:

Sweet, I start on mine in a little over a week. Hoping for 2 days to have it all done.

Couple more notes. Have an easy out and a few extra valve cover bolts on hand. The heads strip out easy. The top half uses a different length bolt then the bottom half.

I put the easy out in a 5/16 socket on the impact and it would pull stripped bolts right out.

Also, you will need the fuel line disconnect tool for the fuel lines on the drivers side.

Oh and if the cup comes out with the injector, it's a freakin mess.

On the passenger side, we found that it does help to pull the alternator and use its bracket as a pry point for the upper valve cover. Those damn things a on there, that's for sure!

All in all it's really not a bad job to do, there's just a bunch of crap in the way lol.

Thanks for all of yalls help. It made the job a lot easier.
