Besides the obvious;

New water pump and housing, gasket kit,
new harmonic balancer and bolt
hoses upper and lower along with orings.
tool for locking flywheel to remove the damper.

Just curious what I'm not thinking about that I should be prepared to take care of while damper is off and water pump is out.

thinking specifically about the front main seal, while Im there, it seems like at 300k miles it would make since to replace.

Anybody that's done this have anything to add?

I did a water pump on my lly last fall, pain in the ass, but got it done one afternoon/ evening.
Pain getting the two nuts on the back side of the pump to the water pipe.

Make sure you replace the o-rings on the pipe that goes up to the t-stat housing. If it leaks you are pulling the pump again.

It will leak if you don’t replace them. That’s a guarantee.

Well, I got it done this weekend! took 2 days but I'm slow. Wasn't too bad, the parts I thought would be the hardest (harmonic balancer and fan removal) were not bad at all. Worst part was that little hose behind the fan pully assembly along with the pipe that goes to the tstat housing. I had a new oring for that pipe so I pulled it and swapped it out. Had everything back together, but that oring got cut on the way into the tstat housing, so I had to break it back down and find another oring to fit. wasted a little coolant but it seems to be all good now.
