Leaf spring questions

I wouldn't bother with locktite,but I'd put never-seize on all the bolts !..
You could remove the new bushings a few different ways--pressing them out is probably best, but you'll need to take the springs to a nachine shop--might be able to draw them out using threaded rod and two sockets,or use a drill bit to drill thru the rubber around the sleeves ,then pop the sleeve out,get rid of the rubber ,and then collapse the outer shell with a chisel until it comes out of the spring eye...

The poly bushings are much easier to change than a stock rubber one, peing a twoi peice design, but they tend to make the truck ride harsher and some squeak so much they'll drive you batty, even if well greased..sure you dont want to keep the new stock bushings and maybe use them up,THEN put the poly ones in later on?..

I had just heard they were better, ill leave em be for now, and never sieze it is.

For things that are not subjected to chemicals like motor mounts and such, on a DD I tend to prefer rubber. They will last forever if they aren't getting oil on them and you aren't working them hard rock crawling and stuff.

BTW, Urethane bushings won't squeak if you slather them with anti seize before your install them. And x2 on anti seize. Just about everything on my trucks gets it and it makes future work so much better. You also are going to get more clamping force from the fasteners by lubricating the threads.

Well both springs are in ,went nice and easy. One of my buddies told me about this magical place on base called the hobby shop, and that for 8 dollars a day you can get anytool you need and a place to work...

Going to drive it a day or two then retighten the bolts.

And of course as i was changing it i notice something dripping out of my cab...Coolant.

So now i get to go do a new heatcore. oh joy, search button here i come
