Leaf spring swap?

Can anyone tell me if I can yank the rear leaf springs out of a 1/2 ton '99 chev. 2WD and replace them with 3/4 or 1 ton springs? Without modification, or what would you do if you wanted to increase its payload? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Brakes
