Hi everyone,

Bought an 83 K5 about a month ago. Today I drained my 208, filled it back up and now it’s leaking. The leak is on the front output where the front driveshaft mates with the 208 (leaking at the bolts that attach them). It wasn’t leaking before, but I did notice that when I drained it, there wasn’t nearly as much fluid as I was expecting (maybe 2qts Poured out).

My plan is a front output seal and a speedi-sleeve, but just want other input as to what the problem could be before I start down a rabbit hole.

Those output yokes have a “gasket” behind the nut to seal the splines. Once you tear it down and inspect it, make sure you put that star shaped gasket back in. If you don’t have the gasket, a healthy dose of a good oil resistant sealer works well.

First check to make sure the nut holding the yoke on is still tight. Could be as simple as that.
