My water pump is leaking :mad:

It's not a daily driver, but I don't want to be stranded.

Once they start leaking, can they go all at once or just get progressively worse.

I have a bunch of other stuff lined up for the next few months and really don't want to tear into another project yet.

It leaves a 2-3" puddle after a 20 minute drive to give you an idea of how bad the leak is.

I had one that leaked for 6-8 months. tiny leak. Replaced it. New pump started leaking 2 months later, tiny leak again. Then a few days later the front pump seal let loose and would not hold any water. I would go pick up a replacement. It doesn't take to long to change. No to hard either.

If yours leaks after it stops, you're probably OK for a while. If you have a 7.5 lb cap laying around you may want to run it for a while vs. the 15 lb. The water pump replacement requires you remove the steel backing plate from the engine because a couple of the bolts go into the pump backwards. Not like any regular GM V-8. Not harder..just takes longer.
