leaking hard tops

leaking from were?

New weatherstripping
seals on windows
get rid of sliding windows if you have them
patch holes if you have them in your top
bolt it down right

hard to say without info

It leaks from the front where it attaches to the cab. Im guessing its the weather stripping because its bolted on right.

Hello

Have you seen LMC truck parts?

I tried to post you a link but I need 5 posts before I can.

But they have the seal for the cab and the shell there on page 12 of the Blazer catalog.

$40 each.

Your Welcome.

If you don't have your catalog handy(On the back of the toilet, just like mine?) you can see it on their website.

If you are going to get seals, get them from sofseal or from Classicparts.com. The quality of the seals from LMC is poor at best in my experience.

That's the trickiest place to keep from leaking...somewhere along the line I read a post (not sure if it was from here) about bolting in sections, kinda like torquing head bolts down. They recommended doing the upper vertical cab bolts first to suck the thing all the way forward and make sure you get a good seal all around the cab, then backing off on all the cab bolts and tightening the two side rails right next to the cab to get those front corners nice and tight. After that you can tighten up all the cab bolts and finish all the side rails. The factory also sticks a little ball of tacky sealer up in the seam where the map light harness pokes out too so if that's left open it probably doesn't help.

I dunno if it actually makes that much of a difference but mine has been off and on many times and hasn't leaked yet. I also wet all the seals with silicone spray just before reassembly and I believe that helps as well. FWIW my seals all "look" worn out but I've yet to see a drop in the cab.

My seals are all dried and torn...never get any water leaking in. Top has been takin off since the thing was new. I've been leaving it off all summer too. When it comes time to put it back on, I never think twice about lubing the seals. When I bolt it down I tighten the bolts on the cab first. Then the bed rails. I think some leak for no real apparent reason.
