I just bought a '72 CST and drove it back from CA to CO. Before I paid for it, I did notice (and take account for) a slight leak at what appears to be the transfer case, just after I test drove it. After I picked it up and started to drive it back home, the leak worsened (it must've been flung from the shaft, hit the exhaust and burned, as well as it seems to have generated a mist that coated the back end of the Blazer and the front end of my '02 'burban (support vehicle). It smelled like motor oil, but I haven't lost any oil out of the motor.

It made it back, all 1200 or so miles ok. I'm sure the xfer case is cooked. I haven't checked the tranny out yet(will do so this weekend). Any similar experiences?

Also does anybody know a solid tranmission shop in the front range of CO, preferrably in Colorado Springs?
