My 14bolt FF axle is leaking from the pinion oil seal, around the yoke, and around the pinion support itself.

Do i need anything special to replace either seal? Im not familiar with the crush sleeve or pinion preload when changing the oil seal and i fear what i do not understand!

Does the pinion support pull out if the carrier is still in the axle?

The pinion support will come out without disassembling anything else and yes you will need a new crush sleeve and to reset the pinion bearing preload along with a new pinion nut.

Any manual should go through how to do it, search here or try the gear setup article on pirate.

replaced the pinion seal on mine, removed the nut, replaced the seal, put the nut back on, alittle tighter, or as tight as i could get it, cause them bastiges are on there tight anyways,,,,drove it across country pulling about 4000lbs of trailer and stuff, still driving it daily with no ill effects or weird noises.

i dunno....

count the threads sticking out of the nut. mark the nut and the pinion shaft with a chisel, change the seal, reinstall nut to the exact same spot or just a c-hair past ( so the marks you made with the chisel line back up). but since its a 14 bolt, you most likely wont get it to go any tighter.

i had to put the whole snout assembly in the press to get the crush sleeve to compress. you have to work for it to get it tighter. just make sure it's not looser
