i have a 03 chevy truck with a 4.8 in it. has about 70,000 on it, and when the truck sits for a while (more than a hour) when i go to start it, it will acted like its flooded. when i crank it the second time it fires right up. im thinking leaky injector any other thoughts?

Weak fuel pump not getting the pressure built up the first crank. I have found that when this happens, I can press the pedal about halfway down and then crank, it seems to alleviate the problem.

Just an idea, it may be just weak pressure and relieving a bit of pressure by pressing the gas pedal forces the pump to pressurize a bit more. Not saying this is your problem, but it may be the issue. Another thing to try, is just turn the key to run and wait for the pump to shut down, then repeat a second or even third time, then start it. If this helps it is most likely a weak pump, and will need a replacement in the near future.

Hope this helps.

I'd check the pressure regulator, pull the vacuum line off of it and run the truck, if there is any fuel coming out, replace it.

Maybe the regulator or pump just bleeds down the pressure when it sits. You could try "double-priming" and see if this makes a difference. Turn the key on (not start) and let the pump prime for 2 seconds, turn it off, back on again and then turn to start after the second prime is done. This gives the pump 4 seconds or so to rebuild the pressure.

ya i belive its the pump. all i have to do is cycle the key 2-3 times quick (not even letting the pump run its full cycle) and it fires right up. soooo i guess im looking at a pump soon. hope extended warranty covers it, i know there not hard to put in i did plenty at the chevy dealership, but dropping $200 for a pump aint really what i want to do.
