so...as the story goes....i bought the truck with the tailgate window crank missing...i had to roll the window down once to get out a spare....i said f*ck it and left the window down for the last 3 months. Yesterday i had the tailgate down from transporting tires and figured i'd get under it with a screwdrive to shove up in there to crank the window up. I slamed the tailgate close with the window up and that's what i got for it:crazy:

Haha that sucks my buddy did the same thing. I never bother rolling my window up, or just go topless and then you wont have to worry about the window :p:. I'm actually thinking of getting one of those net tailgates (mythbusters mpg episode ) and lose some weight ;)

The episode where they showed no tailgate actually cost MPG?:confused: I suppose it doesn't really matter since a topless Blazer would have different flow characteristics than a pick-up. But would the flow characteristics be different enough to change the outcome?:dunno::dunno:

either way removing the tailgate is like 80lbs right there and for any slight difference in air flow, you will gain in weight loss. Don't forget that can save you mpgs too.

Broken window??? With that title for this thread I thought I was going to be looking at a human hand with a few less digits from closing the wrong way.

Oho someone doesnt watch mythbusters! I was surprised by what they found for sure, but of course a blazer will be completely different so it could go either way

i have an extra one of those windows sitting on the side of my house, took it out after i put the soft top on

well the way i see it....i could care less what mpg i get. If anything, i wanna swap the small block for a big block. I have a 2000 Sierra with a 4.8 to drive around to get semi decent mpg in. I wonder....if i take that doors, top, and tailgate off if the mpg would change. I'd think so with less weight, but then not with even worse air flow around the body. Maybe it'd be the same. Oh well....

I wanna keep mpg decent or at least no less than it is now (about 9-10). And any weight I dont need goes.

No I did see that episode. I just wrote my reply kinda poorly.

What I meant to say is that with no tailgate the mpg would drop, but then losing the tailgate also lesses the weight of the rig by a lot, so I think the two would counter eachother.
