anyone ever use led dash lights to replace the 194 or 168 original bulbs? i replaced the 194 bulbs with 168s and painted the bucket the gauges go into a bright silver , but it still isnt quite bright enough for me!! would it help to also paint the backside of the black plastic gauge cover silver also??? as it is the same color blue that the gauge bucket was.......i am assuming that this piece is what reflects the light from the bulbs back onto the gauge faces

I havent tryed them... of course half my lights are burned out right now anyway.

Maybe try forming some tin foil to fit then super glue it back in there.

ok , i'll check out that post , thanks for the replies.....i gotta do something , i hit the dreaded 40 last november and my eyesight isnt what it used to be....lol  thanks guys , there is a wealth of info on here and some very knowlegable people :D:D:bow::bow:

thanks , sweetk30 , that was just the info i was looking for!! i used siver mettalic paint on the gauge bucket and didnt think to paint the backside of the black plastic piece that covers the gauges , i am going in the morning to but the chrome paint and some 168 bulbs and redo mine tommorrow!! by the way how much brighter did it make it ???:bow::bow::bow:

You won't be able to dim them, but they look nice. I didn't like the chrome paint stuff, it peeled off pretty quickly, and I did rough up the surface. I stuck with the incadecents here, just the 194's because they are bit brighter, but I don't seem to have any heat issues with them either.

If you do those upgrades in that post, you won't need LED's. My dash lights are set at like 1/2 dim for normal use, it made a huge difference.
