LED headlights: worth the cost?

Had a chance to drive the old girl around in the dark. Love me those LED's, just about worth the crazy money. The light is white, not yellow, and is directed in front of the truck, not randomly around. I can see farther and more clearly, which I think is kinda the point :deal: My DD's (Nissan and Ford, both 2014) have factory HID's, and these 7" LED's are as good as those.

That was a huge difference. Awful tempting to start there rather than adding more lights to the bumper.

Just put one on a battery and shined it down the street. Instant boner

Just one is brighter and better focused than my S10 with Toshiba HIR bulbs.

I will recommend anyone with 9006 or 9005 (IIRC) bulbs to do the Toshiba HIR swap. It's no HID or LED difference, but helps brighten what you already have. My S10 has terrible optics, but even worse light output. They just helped and have been running for ~8 years now.

It's a shame they are so ugly. Can they not make them look normal?

Have a picture? What are those ones that guy has on his '78 K20?

These ones?

Those are so ugly, they could be free and I wouldn't use them.

Those are simply projectors placed into a custom mount. From there he can focus them accordingly. I like it

Those aren't as bad. Still not very fond of the bar across them.

Me either, but it's the division between high and low beam. There are LEDs facing up and LEDs facing down. Of course the focus needs for both is different, hence the split in half look. In fact, like dremu showed, only half the circle is on with the lows. High beam uses both top and bottom. There are a couple other companies I noticed selling the exact same thing, just re-badged and with a different "cross bar".

2 month update Dremu? :D

mine are still sitting on a shelf :(

Love 'em. I did get some cheapo protecting film on fleabay, to minimize rock chips and whathaveyou. The film didn't entirely want to go on as the lights are domed a bit and the film fits better on flat surfaces. C'est la vie, it was cheap.

Still working fine, not a lick of trouble. Beautiful bright white light, no eyestrain, and a very nice dispersion pattern (mostly horizontal, not much vertical) so I'm happy. My wallet, not so much, but I imagine an HID assembly for my '14 F150 is similarly crazy money, for comparison.
