Sorry to hijack but does anyone make LED conversions for our tailights and Markers?????

I decided to make this a whole new tread...

I think I remember LED taillight conversions on project CopperHead on TRUCKS! So does anyone make them for our trucks?

FYI - I bought a set of 1157 LED Cluster lights and dropped them in my taillights and they SUCKED!!! Very Dim.

LED rears require an upgrade or the stock flasher to a solid state flasher for the LEDs to function properly.

sweet good to know. all the trailer rigs I work on are strictly LED and they need a solid state.

I've seen the Bulb replacements but Questioned there worth so you need to replace all the bulbs with led's and then replace the flashers?????

Maybe that's why i didn't have any problems when i tried them with my flashers, i am using an electronic flasher, but yes, the bulbs in general DO suck,,,,they do not reflect off the back of the housing, like a full regular bulb does, they just show a spot from the L.E.D. lights that are pointing at you.

you bought the 1157 cluster replacement right? Those things are dim junk. Copperhead had a full LED panel. Ever see LED taillights? There are a ton of lights in there. You could make a nice setup if you want to get to work custom making a set.

YUP, the 1157 replacements, looked real good at the bottom of the trash can,,,like i said, no reflectivity in the housing, like the rehular bulbs do...

I have seen some L.E.D. sheet looking stuff when i was delivering packages for a company locally to some custom motorcycle shops. They would simply trim the "sheet" to whatever design they wanted, and mount them in the rear fender somehow flush. They were the real small, pinhead type L.E.D.'s,,, Real neat shtuff, i was told it is VERY expensive too though.

I'd thought about building my own But I'm unsure how to make it work in the curved housing and the associated wiring involved

how to make it work in the corved housing? Simple, make it flat and angled so it lights out the back and side, haha ;) won't be perfect but it would work.

yeah but it seems like maybe they wouldn't emit enough light reward????

as i have said before, they emit enough light rearward to see, but there is no reflectivity in the housing, which gives you the full light up look of the taillight.....the LED lights only produce a "spot" in the lens.
