Hi again,

I've almost completely rewired my K5 but there's one connector lef...

It is the tan wire & connector that comes from the left hand door jamb switch. I've no idea where that connector has to go. I checked and rechecked everything but I didn't find any connector where I can plug it in :dunno:

Any ideas? Here's the wiring plan:

OK,

it goes on the steering column BUT my 81 82 83 and early 84 steering column is missing
following two wires:
- "LT GRN-80"
- "TAN-159"

I marked them yellow in the diagram:

Don't know what I have to think about that?

No idea what the tan wire has to do on the steering column? Any ideas?

... checked another wiring diagram, seems that the tan wire didn't exist until 1984.

The 1983s didn't have a tan or light green wire...

I suppose the door jamb switch will work without that tan wire. maybe they added the tan/green wire to let the dome lamp/courtesy light on until you turn the ignition key? :dunno:

Not sure on year, since when I played with mine it was an 86. Your switch will work w/o the tan wire, since it's hot and grounds via the switch body (threaded into door jamb as ground) the other tan wire I believe is your lights on/door open buzzer. I'd check on my Jimmy but since I have yet to replace these switches, they're still 26 year old switches, rusted in the 'open' position.

Edit: If you're replacing the switches, be careful not to run the threads in all the way, just enough for the door to depress the button w/o it smashing it. Where the nut 'would' meet the jamb, is not threaded all the way (at least the $3 doorman ones) so it'll wobble if you do. I ran mine in most of the way, and locktite the switch like caulk in the space inbetween (not the threads since it's your ground)

The only one that is important is the white, the tan wire ties to the column and is your key in ignition warning when the door is open. Both wires are ground wires and are not hot, so leaving it out won't matter.

Ya that makes way more sense. Dunno why I said one was hot  I blame not having my coffee yet. I knew one was a buzzer/indicator of some sorts.

my 85 doesn't have a buzzer, nor a place for the tan wire to go in the steering column. The way I found it, it was simply put to ground. I used an EZ Wiring kit to wire the blazer, even after doing this I kept the TAN wire going to ground. Everything works
