Hey all I asked my wife to move my truck and she forgot to shut off the switch. The batterys are dead. I havent pulled the plugs to check em yet. what should I check for besides mushrooming?

My 2 cents

I would check to make sure all the plug gets out. Might break off in the combustion pocket. That would require a head removal.

I would also recommend changing the switch to a spring loaded momentary switch, which you have to physically hold on, and spring off when pressure is removed.

Also if you have self limiting plugs you might not have any problems execept the dead battery, and still changeout the switch.

Also might want to wire it so no power without key in 'run' position.

I checked the plugs they look fine. My batterys werent great so I dont think it took long to kill em. The spring switch is a good Idea. I didnt know there was self limiting plugs.

I would wire it that way If I had a clue on how to do it :D How would I go about doing that?

Since the button only grounds the glow plug circuit... it should not be on if the key is off by simply tapping into the wiring of the factory controller the way we normally do. How did you wire it up?

Not sure what year yours is, but both mine are the older glow controllers. There is a light blue wire running from the controller to the relay on the fender. I clipped that wire 6" from the controller, pulled it back through the loom and ran it under the dash.

I added a momentary (spring loaded button) switch. Ground to one pole, blue wire to the other. It only works with the key on, and depressing the switch grounds the blue wire activating the glow plugs, and the glow plug light on the dash.

Simple as all get-out, and more or less idjit proof (not saying your wife is an idiot...)
