I went to Blade Show West agian this year. Im kind of a closet knife guy. If any of you guys get chance to go to either the west or east show, it's a fun time. I saw or met probably 10 people related to the Forged in Fire TV show, along with a bunch of knife makers whose knifes I own.

Anyways I like find the little unknown guys who are just starting out and get a blade from them to help them along. That's how I found this thing. Its made out of 9010 titanium. Which in the knife world is unheard of. I'm gonna throw a handle on it long enough for 2 hands..probably stacked leather discs like the old K-bars..it should be a really unique chopper/slasher when it's all done up. Trying to keep it under a pound when it's all done. It's a tad over 30 inches long.

cool, love that sh*t.... no time for another hobby, but I'm a huge fan of that show...

Subscribed. How to you plan on doing this? Material removal ?

I dont have much material to remove. Just shorten the tang if i want and drill holes for pins. The tang is not hardened like the blade so you can drill it. But if any of you have messed with titanium its more like cutting. Go slow and keep it cool. I have a piece of micarta that i could use instead of stacked leather. I also have some 1 oz copper rounds I could use as a guard and or pommel.

The zombie copper would make an cool guard.

And an antelope horn...could do a bone, copper, leather..thats in the lead i think

This is the guy who forged my blade. His handles are very functional , I just wanted something different. So I said I'd do my own handle.
My blade started out as a sword much longer than it is. It cracked under the power hammer during the drawing out phase. There is a small narrow temperature window when your heating it during which titanium can crack if you hit it one time too many. He was making a video on the instagram and wasn't paying attention. After it cracked he just kept going and finished. just with a much shorter blade now. I like that cause it makes the blade even more unique. The front tip is scalloped and once done will be finish edge sharpened also like the blade.
