GM 12 bolt, Detroit with 4.88 gears and Dana 44 open, also with 4.88s. Both axles complete, used, but ready to bolt in.

Value?

To me: $200 maybe. I'll never use 1/2 tons again, hence the cheap offer.

To the right buyer: Whatever they want to pay for it.

To person from a logical standpoint: $400 maybe.

I know; I'm trying to not convince myself to go 3/4t, but I'm having a hard time doing it.

I know I don't need 1 ton gear for sure, but there are things about 3/4t stuff that appeal to my ultimate plans. Cheap rear disc swap, H2 wheels can be had cheap, I'll NEVER break them...

Damn you Wes!

Keep the D44 front and just do an 8 lug conversion then sell the 12 bolt. I'll bet you could easily get $400.00 for the 12 bolt if it has everything you say and there's nothing wrong with it.

Meh, Wes is right. I don't want to get half ton stuff (it's a trade deal) with the expectation that I'll have to sell and modify it before I even move forward.

I'll hold out for the 3/4t gear I suppose.

I see 3/4 ton sets selling for averaging $400 all over in my parts. And thats for both FF's and SF's and different ratios, too.

I've always tried to score even better by getting a whole truck for that much or less. For example, I bought an '80 K20 Sub complete and drove it home. It had a good strong 350, 400, 205, 10 and 14FF all for $400. I stripped the drivetrain from the rest and still have them today. The body and frame went to scrap.

Browse around your local ads. Search Craigslist. Stay away from eVilbay. I don't care for them anymore. Take road trips in the countrysides. Many farmers park their trucks when they beat them into the grounds. You can score amazing deals this way.

I had a dude offer these as a partial trade on my Avalanche, so I wanted to see if we were even in the ballpark on the deal, but I just don't think I want to go with 1/2 tons.

I sold a 12bolt with 4.88's and a mini spool for $150 last year. Some kid building a jeep bought it. 1/2 ton stuff may be weak for our rigs, but in something lightweight with small tires they work allright.

I wasn't real wild about the deal, but he's pretty fond of his gear which went a long way to killing it. Thought the setup was worth 7 hunj.
