Lets see those C/K30's....

K30's in the Blizzard

Had about two feet of snow Feb 8th through the 9th. Plowed at 4 AM first time in the storm. Threw waves of snow as high as the plow lights, snow banks as high as the roof.

I realized I never updated this thread with the new wheels and tires. She is currently sleeping for the winter.. (WILL NOT SEE THE SALT) But i do run her for 15mins or so every week. Last time i drove it was in january, it rained got the salt off the road enough for a dry day inbetween the blizzards! Still need to do some work to it.

seacoast...

1985 K30, former city of Lawrence Mass. Fire dept. truck. Bought out of junkyard for $1000 delivered. Had rod sticking out of pan but very nice frame, had to buy it, save it and build it. Up and running now. Will hit road in 2013.

Sounds smart to me! I'll keep an eye out for you as I'm always checking out the old GM's living in the seacoast. I really like the CUCV restored in grey with the Cummins. It's sometimes on military 37's and I think is from Hampton.

All these truck have me searching craigslist for 1 ton axles & a plow frame for our 85 :woot: then i'll be in business...

My best friend's dad, Craig, has been wheeling this '80 since '84. Used to be a California Water and Power truck. Came stock with the D60/14BFF, but he updated the drivetrain to a Ram Jet injected 502, NV4500 and NP205. Supported a lot of desert racing from this truck before he retired. Now he supports our Rally racing and a lot of trips around Nevada and Utah.

Pic of Craig pulling the pushrods and changing the lifters the night before a race.

The camper top resembles a Cullen, but Craig made it himself. The rear is both a large hatch and a single, smaller door. The mini-tailgate keeps it all locked up. It's snug for a couple to sleep in there. I believe my pal's mom has spent more than a thousand nights camped out of this rig.

Looks great man. Yours has been my favorite since your build. Looks like some new tube out back.

Thanks

Yeah, I got bored :haha: and missed playing with my bender :D
The plan has always been to do a removable seat in the back and a swing out tire carrier so I just figured now was as good a time as any to start. A TBI swap is in the works right now as ive had enough of the carb :waytogo:

My '87 1 ton. I still use it to, haul, tow, plow snow, recover vehicles (have pulled several cars/trucks out of the lake when they fall through the ice)...

Just replaced a lot of sheet metal and gave it some paint.

tbi 350, th400, np205 twin stick, Dana 60 power-lock, 14FF Detroit locker, onboard air, air springs at all 4 corners...

Awesome truck i like it! Have you plowed with those military tires? Do you know what the wheels are and the lights facing off to the side on the bumper are those for plowing?

So sad I don't get to see this one this weekend :(

I have not plowed with the military tires, so far I have been plowing with BFG mud terrains, but now I have some 37" Good Year GSAs I will try this winter. The aluminum wheels are Eagles. The lights on the front bumper are for plowing. A friend will bend up some tube for a headache rack so I can mount some more lights (to the side and rear) and for the rotating light so I don't scratch the roof anymore.

I've been wondering if those rotating lights mess up the roof of the trucks they're on. Seems to me like there would be a big rusty spot up under them that would cause problems down the road.
