I used fiberglass and made pods. They meet with my kickpanels when the doors are shut. So I see you are into car audio pretty heavy? Do much competition? What brands of equipment do you like? I've been into car audio for about 7 years and have done a little competing. I hit 143.7 with just my 2 twelves this past summer. I was really impressed with that since I had just put the new system in and hadn't had much time to tweak it.

I have been into car audio since the mini trucks arrived in Oregon. 1986 actually. My current system in my Blazer is a Pioneer head unit DEHP85 with Orion power 3000 watts of it and 18 HART professional speakers. It hits 149-150 all day long without tuning it for comp. When tuned I can get about 2 db more.
I really like pioneer head units. Lots of pre amp kick to them incredible tuner and off-roading with a pioneer it doesnt skip much at all. they also seem to stand up to dirt really well.
I use to compete. I did well ,but it is so political anymore so I got out. I just like having a system that drowns out something in someone elses car I do not wish to hear

Yes 143db out of two tweleves is great. That ranks up to the best box I ever designed which went 145. Two Kicker 15's running in a ported box firing backwards in a S10 blazer being run by 1 a600 precision power amp.

Thanks guys. I was pretty impressed. The best thing is, that after some tweaking, I went again today and hit 145.2. I was so impressed with those XPL's!! I've gotta say: Hail to Kicker!!!!

Since my daughter was born I got out of SPL.. In my '85 Nissan K/C 4x4 I ran the massive amps and everything else to hit hard. 2-15" Orion with a Orion HCCA 250(modified) on each one, 4- Orion 5 1/4 and 4 -Orion 1 tweeters in the doors another modified HCCA250, Orion Pre Amp and Elec. Crossover. Sounded great (and great for a bad back). Now it's down to Rockford 10", 4-Rockford 5 1/4 and 4-1" Tweeters Powered by 2- Rockford 240.4 amps. I'm going to try a new set of 3.5 in the dash here soon. As soon as I get my money pit back from the trany shop I'll post a couple of Pic's. Anyone use the Qform speaker enclosers yet. Thought about doing this up front and getting rid of the door boxes.

OK I guess that I gotta get in here with my system. I've got an old Sony that doesn't eject tapes anymore and two 5 or 6 inch speakers in holes in the doors that are missing grilles the one on the right side works when it wants too and I think that has to do with the radio because I've traced the wires back to the radio and they are all fine.
It cranks loud enough to listen to while driving down the road.

WHat tape do you have stuck in your Sony deck???

They fit perfect. When I got them, I had already run the wiring so I had them installed in about 15 minutes. I am running a Kicker 6 1/2" Resolution component set in them. Had no problems with them at all. They look great sound great and fit great. I'll try to take a couple pics for ya. It's freezing rain out right now or else I would do it right away.

I manually pop the tapes up and out with a couple of knives that I keep in the truck just for that purpose, they're bent just purfectly so now if I am stopped at a stoplight I can get the tapes out (hopefully) by the time the light turns green
