who uses 'em ? any pro's - con's ??

I really don't want to pull my rear axle apart to weld the tubes to the pumpkin..From what I understand,,to do it correctly, the housing needs to be heated,, then welded... then buried in sand or blankets to let it cool naturally......not real convenient with a built axle in the truck..

so,, using a truss... does it do anything to stop the tubes rotating in the housing ? or is strictly for resistance to bending a tube ?

I have looked at Kurt's design ( the back bone )
http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?route=product/product&path=18&product_id=151

and Ballistic's design...

http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/14-Bolt-Rear-Axle-Truss-_p_1493.html

The only thing I dislike about kurt's bolt on kit is it probably doesn't do much to stop the rotational forces...the kit also comes in weld on...

I guess what I'm asking is what is the main purpose of the truss?? to stop rotating forces or to prevent bending of the axle tubes or both ? :dunno::dunno:

Discuss.... :D

DOH... wrong forum.... OK..I'm an idiot....

Mods please move this to the Garage.

Will 35s fit with a 4"lift?

BTW... if you buy 4x6 cedar lumber from home depot you can cut it into 8" blocks, and then cross drill them...that way if 4" of body lift isn't enough,, you can flip the blocks and get 6 ",,,still not enough ?? stand them on end and get 8"....

that's a free tip, just for you buddy ...:flipoff7::flipoff7::flipoff7:

I talked with Eric about welding, and decided to go for it when I could easily get to the axle....

Holy fock, my eyes are burning.........

Maybe it's from the sadness caused by sayin' goodbye to shewheeler, or maybe it's from the tech.

I could act all tough and ****, but it would be an exercise of self-delusion.........

It's strange, I've had little emotion since I've heard she passed. I think I did my mourning since the time I heard she was on her way out. I had a difficult time not breaking down at work. It was crushing.

But now? Peace. I don't know if it's temporary or for the duration, but that's how I feel.

Be prepared for a temporary respite, Nathey. If you truly care, grieving takes more than 24 hours.........

At least that's how it works for me.

We'll see. She's still in my thoughts, that's certain. I'm going to sign off. Have as good an evening as you are able, gentlemen.
