Does anyone have any real world experience with aftermarket T-Case longevity?

I've contacted Advanced Adapters about the Atlas cases. Hopefully will have some answers from them next week.

Remember that Sasquatch weighs 12k daily and does about 750 to 1000 miles a week. I really want a deep reduction and 2wd reduction capabilities
 
i daily drive my 203/205 ORD doubler setup .7k lbs min every day on the K30 and over 8,500 with plow setup and balast weight in the rear .

and if i had to do it again it would be a ORD magnum unit . the magnum is just 2 t-case units back to back and if both in high and driving no problem . the real advantage is the true 3 speed of the box . call or pm @Stephen at ORD and talk it over .
 
The Dana 300 tcase was considered to be one of the best off road cases of all time. 205 is stronger but D300 has a 2.6 low range and is lighter. Advanced adapters made and sold tons of upgrades for the D300 over the years. After tons of r&d on the D300 and lots of great upgrades the Atlas was the next step. They built off what they learned on the D300 to come up with the Atlas. It is an outstanding t-case but so is a magnum 205 combo. I feel like the place to use an atlas is when length is an issue. If you have room a magnum setup has a lot of pros and its a bit easier on the wallet, especially if you have a 205 that you can use with it. For ultimate weight carrying capacity I would think that the magnum has the edge, 205 is tough as can be and the 241 planetary in the magnum is also a 1ton truck designed part.
 
All you gotta do is look at the picture that ORD put up the other day comparing the components of the Atlas to the Magnum. No question.
Also look at how many ultimate adventure rigs are sporting magnums.

The other option would be that case that trail worthy was building. It was basically a scaled down monster truck case. I “think” it was the hero case
 
I'm a big fan of the np271f.
With locking hubs you'll have 2wd low. It can be flipped for passenger drop.

Np205 gear driven hands down the toughest gearbox ever! The ORD doubler is the only thing on that makes it even better... the rest just grenades !!

Hero or Magnum. I have a 3 speed Hero, but have seen great stuff from the Magnum as well. I try to street my rig to every trail. I don't know many people with the Atlas so experience is limited there.

At speed the case does great, offroad has been great as well. It takes a ton of power and just does its thing. It's been in my truck for 3 years now or so and it hasn't needed anything. I've changed the oil twice, and both times its amazingly clean. Their input and output bearing setup is extremely cool and unique. Gears and shafts are massive. I did have a problem with the case the first test drive. The output loosened up. I called them as soon as it happened, they had a tractor to my door in 2 hours to pick the case back up. I had it back in my hands in 3 days, and was told if it was a race they would do whatever they needed to keep me in. Now that was awhile ago and I can't say if anything changed since then but it made me very happy.

Forgot to add. Diagnosis was assembly error, they swapped shims between two cases they were building or something like that. Back then it was also a sealed case purchase, I.E. they wanted any problem back to them and was done on their dime. I'm not sure if its still the same.

My ls3 is a baby motor compared to what its designed to handle.

Advanced responded with a no on the atlas case. Looks like the Magnum or Black Box is the choice. Quick look at them this morning before I go to work. Im thinking I like the Magnum. Who do I call at the shop on Monday?

I can't find any info on flipping one though :dunno:
I'd like to go auto and a more modern TC but finding the passenger drop 241 is getting harder.
Plus the 271 is stronger anyway probably.

The 205 is nice but coming to a complete stop and going to neutral every time I shift it gets old. I want low speed shift on the fly.


And HOLY chit! 12k is crazy heavy lol
 
My single wheel dodge is 11500 and its still got the stock bed on it.
Its got the 271d and people are sled pulling with these things.
The 205 is ancient history and really isnt all that great with actual loads put through them.

Putting a planetary in front of a 205 just makes it more susceptible to splitting itself under load in 4x4.

I assume you mean from 2wd to 4wd and back. My 205 will shift from 2 to 4 at pretty much any speed as long as the hubs are turned and the back wheels are not spinning.
Going from 4 to 2, just means kicking the tranny to neutral for a second (auto) to let the front and rear torque equalize and it will shift right out at speed.
If it was a manual, I would just push in the clutch for a second.
Driving through the woods, going from hard dirt to mud and back, its not unusual for me to shift from 2 to 4 and back on the fly. No gear grinding, just click and its in.
Of course, if the hubs are not turned, that is a different story, but shifting to 4wd would not do anything anyway.
And, I can go from low to high while rolling. But I don't know of any that will shift to low while rolling. I may be wrong though.
