Figured id throw this up here,,to me its all about the lil things and minor details.. Since we all have to run License plates and we have to run license plate lights here as well.

I had a more complicated approach where I ran a bolt and wing nut thru the rim itself and it was ackward to take rim off etc.

This is a simpler approach, I just use the lug nut itself to hold the plate holder / light and rim to my swing out tire carrier.

Slick.

My favorite mounting solution for the front is to use mag light clips, and build a removable mounting plate that clips to the roller fairlead on your winch.

I did that too. Then I lost the plate in a big mud pit. The next time I attached a wire to it so I wouldn't lose it, Or it wouldn't get stolen.

I had sort of same problem on my 2wd . needed plate were it was in rear but needed use of hidden trailer hitch .

plate flipper from jeep or full size old car with filler in middle of rear end . rubber bumper added to set plate flat / level and clear trailer plug when flat .

another I seen and saved pic of .

That would be a no-go here, ive gotten pulled over for no light on my plate (I have a quick disconnect on the light so I can swing out the tire carrier and forgot to plug it back in)

I ran a wire through the tube of the tire carrier to light the plate light. It goes in right by the pivot spindle so it doesn't have to travel much as the carrier swings open. The ground is just back through the bearings/bolts/etc. There is a connector in case I even need to remove the tire carrier or whole bumper, but for normal use it doesn't get touched.

Hey Mix, is that a motorcycle mount?

Also, is that a custom tailgate in that picture?!?!?! That's a lot of work for a license plate! Mine is just screwed to the tailgate also, no light, no hassle by TheMan yet.

Here you would be lucky to go a mile after dark without getting pulled over ,if you had no license plate lamp...nothing gets you pulled over quicker ,except maybe weaving in traffic or flipping a cop off ..

I've even been stopped when only one of the two stock LP lamps was working on my step & tow bumper I had on my truck before I replaced it due to rot..cop said "ALL lights must be working"...he didn't write me up though,I think he just wanted to see if it was registered and insured--..my current plate holder on my stepside has its own plate lamp,in addition to the "window" in the bottom of the tail lamp housing,so its going to be illuminated one way or the other!..

I have a friend who buys auction cars often, and he's had me drive a few home with a dealer plate stuffed in the rear window--luckily I wasn't stopped the few times I drove for him,but he has been "warned" several times its illegal to drive with the plate not mounted in the proper spot with a lamp on it--but he's had several dealer plates stolen,or the magnet mount failed to hold them on,so he'd rather take the risk of getting pulled over, than losing another one...

No, its a swing out tire carrier/gas can holder.

Lol
I mean the license plate holder. Sure looks like something I've seen on motorcycles. :)
