Its a different question than you guys may think. I know eventually I want to go with some 4 inch tuff country springs. However, I cant go that route right now due to lack of a place to store my truck if I lift it that much. I have about 3 inches of clearance from garage door opening to the factory option roof rack on my truck. I want to run a minimum of 33" tires and gain a bit more ground clearance. After wheeling at disney and only being able to find the shortest obsticals; and haveing to go around most of the rocks to get from spill way to spill way and still scraping my front and rear ends I would like a small lift. Eventually i would like to go 4" lift and maybe some zero rates and 33-35" tires.

What are my options for my current storage place for the truck? My wife hates the factory susspension and so do I. Its 25 years old and the susspension has had a ruff life. Some of the bushings have been changed out over the years and it has brand new shocks on it. I dont really want to dump lots of money into a temperary lift solution. Is my best bet to run zero rates and a 1 inch ORD body lift puck? Will the 33" tires by themselves really give me a 2 inch lift over the 31's?

Would airing down my tires to like 20 PSI or so alow me to loose enough height to get in or out of the garage?

Thanks for the advice

I had a bronco once, same problem you have. I aired down to eight psi and just barely fit. Only one way to do this, have your wife watch while you back up or pull in. Pain in the butt, I did it for five years. once you get the air pressure needed to get in the man cave you will remember.
Do this daily though would, bring the major su..well you know.

Well, luckily it's not my DD so it would be annoying for sure.

I can't park it out side because it doesn't get driven a lot, so of it sat out side the land lord and my mom would get fed up quickly. I can't keep it at my place due to lack of parking. So it gets locked up in one of the bays of my mothers rental place.

ok this may sound cheap but it sounds like its what you want. at a local advance auto you can buy 3 inch blocks and ubolts for 30 bucks you get a set of two so buy 2 of these and you have a 3 inch suspension lift for 60 bucks.

I may be corrected on this, but never use blocks on the front.

As far as the tires go, If you have a worn down set of 31's and you put a brand new set of 33's on it, you may be surprised the difference it can make.

well thats what you get for cheap though. your correct you shouldnt use blocks in front youd be better of with leaf packs but its something cheap.

I'm all for cheap, but that is dangerous and scary. I don't even like the idea of rear blocks.

I may just run a 1 inch Ord aluminum body lift with 33's and see how it goes.

Are they a decent idea or is the body lift still inadvisable?

My 31's are like brand new, so I don't know if I should expect much of a difference going up to the 33's.

you wont get a noticabled difference from a body lift unless you do one big enough for 35s but then it looks dumb in my opinion and is a waiste of money my k10 has 4 inch tuff country springs and its like 4-500 to buy the kit

Well the max body lift I would do would be the 1 inch.

Where are you a getting tough country lift for $400-500. I priced one out and it was like $1300. :dunno:

This is just my opinion, but a 1 inch body lift isn't worth the hassle. Not to mention that I don't particularly care for them. But that's an opinion.

Why not try and find used front springs and rear shackle flip. Then down the road you can sell the springs for bigger and just get longer shackles for the rear. Deflate the tires or get some really small wheels and tires to throw on it for in the garage.

i agree with chadray13 on the bodylift but go new when buying leaf springs and shackles and u bolts

The website you suggested doesn't carry tuff country. It's zone brand. And it's blocks?

So it's just the lack of storage and not the finances that's your limiting factor correct? I always like to do things once and be done with it. Why fool around with a temporary solution that you won't be satisfied with? Get the lift you want and tire size you want so you (and more importantly your wife) are happy. Then get a set of cheap and small donuts that you can slap on when it's time to move it into the garage.

Correct. The biggest issue is storage. Either way I need to save up for a few months before I buy a full lift set, but I would prefer to buy what I really want the first time rather than later regret getting a cheaper set and being un happy with it.

Problem with getting two sets of wheels is still part of the storage issue.

If I'm not mistaken, you want to run 33's. You can do that with factory springs/lift, no need to add height to make those work.

Keep an eye out on craigslist for newer factory leaf springs if yours are too old/worn. I picked up a set of leafs from a CUCV with less than 1,000 miles on it and installed them when I removed my 2.5" lift.

That's pretty poor, if not downright dangerous advice!:eek1: Blocks are not a very good idea for the front, especially the el'cheapo crap you would guy from the local auto parts stores. I would be scared to use those u-bolts even without the blocks.

Back to a question by the OP.....if you have a true 31" tall tire then going to a true 33" tire will net 1" of increased height at the roof of the truck. With that said different brands of tires are different true heights and tire wear makes a difference. A guy in our club has 33x12.50 bis TSL's and they are substantially taller than many common 33x12.50 radial tires I have seen.

6.2 blazer i agree but it sounded like he was looking for cheap cheap but i didnt know how cheap. would i ever do that if i only had 60 bucks? hell no
