hi i have recently fiitted 8 inch lift on my k5 and the rear prop is not long enough. i was goin to cut and weld an extra piece in when i noticed the bolts that hold the cross member up for the transmission had 4 sleeve/washers on the top of the chassis could i move these so they fit in between the chassis and cross member to help the prop length ?
will i need to grind the front prop to get it to flex more? its a double cardigan type

if you have fiited 8 inch lift could you tell me wat you done
i would be most gratful with any help as not many people to ask here in the UK

prop = driveshaft (I'm assuming...)

Yes you could space down the T-case, but that will make your front driveline angle even worse. Best solution is to extend the length of the rear shaft and add a CV joint at the top end of the driveshaft.

For the front, you'll likely need to extend that shaft too. The little stop nubs can be ground for better angularity.

Getting drivelines 'right' on a lifted K5 is easily one of the hardest parts of lifting one. It's usually not cheap either.

If you drop the T-case, DO NOT flip the spacers.....Make some out of some square stock. If you flip and use the spacers, they will eventually rip through the frame.

You need to add ~1 1/2 -2 inches to the drivelines and add a CV to the rear.

props

thanks for your help. im not sure i understand about adding a cv. wont i need a front front prop with a double cardigan cv cluster and cut and weld it to fit the rear or is it something i can buy off the shelf
