I am thinking about lifting my stock Blazer 4 inches and adding new wheels / 35s once the current set wears out. Does anyone know

1. What are the specs supposed to be (width front vs. width rear, end of tire to end of tire)?

2. Why the rear width appears significantly narrower than the front?

3. I believe the rear is 4 inches narrower than the front.

I am concerned that it may look even more pronounced with the larger tires and lift. I've seen many blazers that seem to have this kind of set up and many which do not. Any explanation?

What you need to mesure is WMS to WMS (Wheel Mounting Surface) on the axle. In stock form the rear is narrower than the front, one explanation for this I have heard is that it helps the vehicle to track better and return to center better. The reason you see some trucks without this offset front to rear is because of axle swaps. Various configurations of front and rear axles will get you closer to even widths front to rear. Another possibility is to run wheel spacers on the rear axle. Personally if all I wanted to do was to run 4" lift and 35's on the stock axles, I would leave it be.
