Just got done installing the diy4x shackle flip w/crosstied 4.5" shackles and 4 degree shims and 4" front springs . Took it for a test drive and everything felt fine except when I brake the pedal doesn't go down smoothly, it kind of bouces. Is this what a driveline vibe feels like, or is it a brake issue? I didn't disconnect any brake lines, so I'm not sure why it would be the brakes. HELP!!

does your suburban have a valve on the rear brakes that has a lever going to the rear end? If so, you will need to adjust it to compensate for the lift. Some of them have it, some don't, It is the thingy that controls rear brake pressure when loaded.

The valve he speaks of is right above the rear axle. Some trucks have it and some don't. Some what of a load sensing valve. The heavier the load in the rear the more the valve was opened.

You have stock brake lines on a 4". Anything pulled tight?

Hi, Kert. No, nothing is tight, at least while it's sitting still there's a little line left. I do have my black widow brake lines sitting here waiting to be installed, just didn't have the energy to do 'em tonight. I can't see anything that looks like a valve to me, but I'll post a pic in a few minutes soon as I'm done putting my gas tank skid plate back up.

Nope, mine looks like this:

Sorry for the fuzziness. It's just a pass through hanger thingy up there. Any ideas what else it could be?

sounds like the rotors are warped then. Maybe it is more noticeable now that you have bigger tires on it, and they are working harder. :dunno:

Hmm, the tires only measure an inch taller, but they are a lot meatier and fatter with the 10" wide rims. Would that be enough to go from perfect brakes to being so rough I don't dare drive it above 25mph? :dunno:

Well, here's an update. I drove it a few more times and thought the noise was coming from the drivers front, so I spent the only time I had today pulling the front caliper cleaning it and reinstalling, only to drive it again and still have the problem. I dropped it off at my mechanics to fix the A/C and he drove it when he was done since I told him of the problem. He tried only using the e-brake and the same /boucing occured. Pulled the drum and there was a piece cracked off. Guess I should have mentioned we dropped the rear axle while installing the lift, but I thought it was a mute point since I thought the problem was in the front, my mistake. At least I know all I need is a drum. I'll install a 14BFF instead of fixing the 14BSF if I can get my hands on one right away. Thanks for the help.
