hey guys im new here just joined today. but i am about to go buy me my first blazer. its a 1991 black k5 all stock and i am building it to take it to the dunes. i am up in the air about lift size but what do u guys think i may go with the 6 inch lift but my worry is drive shaft lengths and pinon angles any help apprecated
 
I plan on beating on it a bit but not terrible and I would love to run 35/14.50/15 but prolly will end up running 12.50s due to money but for my lift I have about 550 to spend
 
Save your money until you can get anything better than off the shelf Rough Country crap. BDS, ORD custom springs, or something along those lines.

What this guy says. Better to stay low and stock than bang your head off the ceiling every time you hit a bump
 
Generally speaking tuff country ez ride is considered the best of the mass produced.

Equal to the tuff country is BDS.

Get bilsteins for shocks.

So can you weld or fab?
 
also blazers tend to do best for first timer guys with 4" lift . any more = drive line rework and custom rear shaft . some even have to do this on 4" .

if you do 6" plan on work .

best to post up what you want / plan to do / how much it will realy be used for each part of the build . we have been here and done this a lot .

read up here / spend cash 1 time to start / have fun .
 
Thanks guys ya I wanna have this thing lifted and tires before June 9 that's when the family is making our first trip to the dunes this year I was looking into ord springs to do my lift with and I was gonna purchase fox shocks with the external resovor later on down the road after this first trip some guys I've been talking to out in the sand say those help a ton with the bumps and if u get some air time coming over a dune but yes I do wanna get a quality leaf so I don't beat my self to pieces just driving in the sand. Since u guys recommend the 4" lift can I tuck 35/12.50/15 with minamul cutting of my fenders?
 
ORD springs with fox shocks or most any other really good shock are awesome.

Tell him how good ORD springs are with proper shocks.

@sponsoredbydad is another guy you wanna be asking for advice. Those are 2 off the top of my head who are rocking ORD leafs with good shocks. And fully killing it in the dunes

Which dunes you go to? June is will be here real quick. Don't be in such a hurry to tear it apart. A stock 4x4 Blazer will do pretty damn good in sand providing you have a decent set of tires you can squat out(Run at a low PSI). It's not going to be a trophy truck but it will scoot you around real nice. If you are really going to wheel it then design it to be lower like a 4"or 5" lift. 35" tires are going to max out your axles on the stress level(Unless it's already got some 1 ton axles on it) I really like running my 33's. Good shit ain't cheep. $500 will not even be close to a good lift. Drive shaft angles will change even on a 4". You might be able to get away with it all vehicles are kinda different in this way. I love my ORD springs and they work killer with the shocks I paired them with. You can see lots of videos on my u Tube Chanel here are a couple

 
I have been out a few times with my 35X12.50's on 4 inch lift, and still haven't rubbed. I don't think I will either, I tested it at work with a forklift and I couldn't get them to touch the fenders.

35's will tax your gear ratio though, and you really don't need to be that tall duning. That's why I recommended 33's. Not much better on gears, but some.
 
I'm going to wynoka Oklahoma and sweet guys I am glad to hear that I am going to go the tuff country route and stay 4 inch lift and call it good
