hey all, ive been looking at 4in lift kits for my M1009, and almost all of them say in fine print "recomended for small blocks", well, my 6.2L diesel weighs as much as a big block, so im confused. I emailed rough country and havent heard back yet. just wondering if there was something special i should be looking for to lift the front end? ill probly be doing a shackle flip on the rear to avoid using blocks.

oh and im justifying the lift kit because an alumni in my fraternity who is a huge blazer guy (understatement) was actually frightened by my front springs, and said they were so worn out i shouldnt take it offroading at all. So should i also get a set of rear springs for the rear? maybe a set off a 1 ton truck from the junkyard? or do rear springs tend to hold up where front springs wear out?

I have some bds springs on the front of mine and they work fine. mine is a m1009 too. no sagging of anykind.

I just ordered some Tough Country 4" HD.
It says right in their ad that the HD springs are for vehicles with snow plows, winches, etc. I consider a diesel and etc.

Look for Tough Country part #18471
Ordered from Toguncustomz; about $250 shipped

They have rear spings too, but since I have 56"ers they are diff part number.

Most 4-6" lifts use 300-600 lbs/in spring rates. Your diesel only weighs, what, about 150 lbs more than a SBC? That's 1/4"-1/2" lower height, nothing to worry about IMO.

You can always add a zero rate if you want a little more height.
