Im building my 74 k5 on the cheap for now{use what i have as much as possiable}. My plan is to run 36" maybe 37" tires without cutting the fenders, and no body lift. So I'm thinking 6 or 7 in should do it?
What i have is 4" front lift springs, diy shackle flip, stock 52" rear springs, 56" rear springs from a 89 3/4ton 2wd, and 4 zero rates. I dont think it matters but this is with my 60-14ff combo.
I've researched the 52-56" swap but I'm not sure on the 52's out front. Maybe the 4" lift springs withe longer shackles? Thanks for ANY input!

Sounds like you will need the longer shackles the zero rates and relocate the front forward as much as you can. You are going to have to keep the tires out of the rear side of the fender on full stuff. On my Gray K5 I ran 3" BL and 35" BFG's and got some scrubbing in turns, especially when hitting a curb and turning like in the driveway. The crewcab had the same size tires on a wider rim with 6" suspension and not a problem. The Red K5 has 8" susp. and 39.5" TSL's and I still had to cut a bit to keep it from wrinkling.

Hope that helps a little.:o

Thanks Bulldog

I"m thinking longer shackles in front. My thinking was stay with the stiff 4" springs{and less front flex} with axle moved forward could save the fender's.
Sound right ? I have been thinking about this to long, need to make up my mind and do it.
If no one talks me out of I 'm thinking wtf, cut up this clean 74 and stuff the 40's under it:doah::haha:

They're only fenders. You could get some from LMC and cut those up and still have the factory originals.:D
