Just picked up a nice condition 76. truck Is completely stock. Looking to lift and do either 33 or 35’s. I don’t off road other than on my property which is easy no flexing, boulders, etc. from the research I have found, looks like 2” or 4”. My question, will I need to re-gear w 35’s? I like the look of both profiles. Lastly, blocks for the rear or new springs all the way around? Thank you.

Congrats on the new ride. I have a 2.5” lift with 33’s on my ‘83. I like it because it’s still fairly easy to get in and out of.
As far as regearing, it really depends on what it has right now.

I had 33's on my '90 Jimmy years ago with no lift. So I believe that 2 to 2.5" of lift would be pretty good as @Fastereddie said.
I had also installed 4:10 gears in it because it had a 700R4 with a weak 350 TBI. That made it pretty good all around IMO, just didn't have the little bit of extra altitude.

I installed a 2" Rough Country suspension lift. New leaf springs front and rear. Rides smooth. I also bought O.R.D. front sway bar quick disconnect. I'm running 3:73, my 400 SB is pumping out some extra HP. I have to have my driveshafts worked on. I'm running 33" Mud BFG tires. I feel 35' BFG tires would also fit, them seem to run small in actual size. Rough Country has great customer service. Keep us posted on what you end up doing. Scott in Goodyear, AZ.

32” or 33s on stock wheels stock gearing and 2” of lift would be a happy Daily low budget build. 35s and stock gearing you would definitely start feeling the power loss. Mine being that it had a Th350 trans had 3.07 gears so 32s was pushing it on tire size and that worn out 350 made maybe 150hp if I was lucky. Find out your gearing and that will give you more information on what will work best. What motor trans are you running as well in this? Plan on highway driving?

This was mine when it had 32” BFG and worn out 2” lift.

From my experience, don't use rough country for a 4 inch lift, the spring rate is really high on the 4 inch and above springs.
6" even worse . Saw a long bed truck with tailgate down stacked with split firewood to roof line ....... maybe dropped 3/4" in the rear . :eek1:

I put on a 4 inch lift, for my 35’s on my 77. The kit didn’t come with rear springs, so I bought new stock style to have the firmness needed without sagging. I didn’t know the arch yet, that’s why I got stock. Had to build custom rear blocks to lift the back a little higher for my situation, but the kit couldn’t level the truck, so you may have to build custom blocks. It doesn’t look like it in the pic, but it’s completely level.

Scott- I may have your twin Blazer! Thank you for the reply.

Whatever you do keep in mind that if you use blocks in the rear you are lifting old springs that may have sagged. Then replacing the front springs with new. And add in that the rear wheel openings on the rear are smaller all contribute to them looking like the ass is dragging. Mine is actually lifted a little more than the front by an inch or so with new stock height rear springs and a shackle flip and a zero rate. It looks level with top and rear tire carrier on. A little ass high with no top or tire rack. (which I prefer over the sag look)

Hi Roadking40, I would like to see the twin. This is how mine looked when I bought my 76 K5. I found it on CL Sacramento.
