Ok so i was looking around for a very very cheap lift kit....I want to lift the blazer super cheap!

So i was wanting to know if i put longer shackles on the front and rear if this would lift the blazer? i see people running 7.25 inch shackles on there k5s all the time. also is there any other cheap way to lift the k5 blazer?

The 7.25" shackles you speak of are generally used for a 52 or 56" front spring swap as the longer shackle is necessary to take full advantage of the flex that these springs offer.

However, in the front application you can use the longer shackles to provide lift. Then of course you will need shims to correct the pinion/castor angles. In the factory rear setup the shackle is a tension style setup which means that the shackle below the spring and if you install a longer shackle you will actually lower the rear.

The problem with a cheap lift is that it is not always a good lift or the correct way to do it. For the front you will most definately need springs. Blocks will work ok in the rear but a shackle flip or new springs would be better. Longer shocks will most likely also be needed and of course steering correction. Brake lines and driveshafts can become a problem depending on how high you go.

In my opinion the cheapest way to lift without compromising safety would be a body lift. Usually they can be found for under $100. As far as suspension, if you want more than a couple inches plan on spending a little bit of money to do it correctly/safely.

save your money and do it right from the start.......your teeth and back will like you for it. look for quality used parts.

Are you going to install the lift yourself? I would go with the body lift. You can always take it off down the road

Wow that rancho lift is dam cheap lol....I might end up buying rancho 4" front springs and do a shackle flip in the rear that should = 4 inch of lift and fit a nice set of 33-35s

get it in the air!!!!!!!! QUICK!!!! big tires!!!!!!! yeah!!! HURRY!!!!!!!

You'll lose lift height doing that, and the spring will live a much shorter life.
Yup you will, but it's cheep... take out two, add a zero rate...When it wares out buy more springs..

I will just put the rancho springs up front, diy4x shackle flip in rear. Then get some good shocks. I am also thinking of adding a zero rate just for the extra inch so when the springs do start to sag a little.

shackle fip most offten requires a shim for the pinion.

can be a bit fun to figure out for first time people.

Good, bad, or otherwise, body lifts are as cheap as they come. No shims, shocks or springs needed. Flame suit on boys. As a side note, you may be able to build your own shackle flip and find used front springs and shocks. You may also need new brake lines or drive shafts depending on lift. Cutting your fenders may also provide necessary clearance and is basically free. Good luck!
