So as I've gotten older I have come to appreciate a quality ride in any vehicle, lifted or not.

I have a 1991 V1500 Suburban. I am very seriously considering the ORD 3" with Tuff Country front springs and rear shackle flip.

I'd like to here opinions of the quality of this lift and others as well please.

Even if you have custom springs, let me know what you're running. I'm okay spending extra to get a good ride.

ord spec built springs
bds springs
tuff country springs

top 3 around here and few other forums for ride quality in that order for the most part .

do NOT BUY rough country = empty dump truck ride

Thanks.

I effed up and bought RC for my LJ. Eeeesh. Brutal.

The concept of custom springs is new to me. Do you guys typically run it across scales and get your front/rear weights and give that to the manufacturer?

For custom leaves I would call ORD (OffRoad Design) and tell them what you want to end up with. They'll ask you questions about your rig and get you what you need. Their experience revolves around squarebody GM trucks.

My friend did a SAS into a late model 2500 crew cab long bed with 6" Superlift springs.
I was really surprised with the ride quality..

rode nicer than my ORD parts!

Hmmm. Mine are just 2.5" lift, and very stiff. Everything is in the stock locations mount wise, I would think my shackle angle would be ok. I also have load range E tires, so that isnt helping.

I know John (80-427) has the same springs in a truck, and they're stiff as hell too.

Hopefully the big block helps, if I can ever get it to the machine shop.

Air pressure makes a HUGE difference!!!! My old Tahoe had 235/85/16 Goodyear Authorities, think they were a 6 ply, but heavy duty tire. I don't remember how much air I had in them, but thinking 35 or so. It rode like it was on a cloud. Just glided over bumps, potholes whatever. Then trying to tweak lil more economy out of it, I bumped the pressure up to 45 or 50. Didn't keep it like that for long, but it rode a lot rougher, and the tires were ****in LOUD with that much air in them. At 35 don't think they made a sound. Need to find a happy medium....

you prob dont even need that much for just beating around . a few psi can make a big change in ride .

45PSI was just a little further than what it took to bead them up. Hopefully I can get it back out yet this year, I'll lower it to 35PSI, and see what happens.

The custom Alcan springs I had in my 88 burb rode great. I loved the ride in that. It was a 3" lift with 33x12.5x15 tires. Running 28 psi.

The only thing I'd do different now is run Bilstein shocks next time.

thats just to get the tire over the rims safety bead area . once there seated then set were they need to be .

It should be noted that Tuff country has EZ ride and they have HD springs. Go with the EZ ride unless you have a heavy ass front bumper or a BBC or Diesel
