okay i have a 4 inch all suspension sky jacker lift.i want to be able to fit 38's under it. and i was wondering if it would be okay to go with a 4 inch shackle flip?
shckle flip + 4 inch lift=8inch?

and if i do shackle flips in the rear what do i do about the front?

(sorry if this has already been posted, i tried looking but i couldnt find it plus im really new with all of this im only 17 and i need all the help i can get)

Do a little sheet metal trimming and you can fit 38s with the 4 inches you already have, thats what I did.

if you want 3" body lift on the cheep end will help a lot in 4" you have to clear 38 . but still need to trim a tiny bit.

i dont like the way body lift look. the most i would do with the body is a 1inch im not to worried about price right now. im just looking for options.

how much trimming? do you have any pictures

Heres one

I also cut the front of the fender. I cut it straight across towards the bumper under the marker light. If you look there you will see how high you can cut. I will try to find a pic where you can see where I cut it.

25 bucks and 1 years time will get you tons of info and pics.

here is the good pic thread of trucks with lift info . http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170627

then search fender trimming for the good tread with lots of info on trimming and pics and measurments.
okay thanks.
people like you is what makes this place the best!

so im guessing the shackle flip with the lilft is bad?

i just dont uderstand it i guess, it seems like it would work, the only problem i could think of is the axle would be pushed forward? i just thought it would work since it worked with stock leafs

okay. thanks for the picture. i guess i just got to make a decision, either chop or buy a bigger lift. i have been worried about looks, im wanting it so it will look good for the girls but also do good off road for blazer bash and to show my friends whats up, and that they should've bought a chevy.:wink1:

It will work, I personally dont like that much lift. With just a bit of trimming you can fit those tires and be a lot cheaper.
Here is a pic of the front cut but not the back.

I think if you cut it right it looks good, I tried to make it follow the fender line instead of just cutting a big angle on it.

1. Your lift plus Zero rates all the way around plus 1" body lift= 6"

2. Your rear springs with 2.5" shackle flip and 6" springs up front= 6"

3. 8 inch springs up front plus a shackle flip and your springs= 8"

4. Leave the suspension alone and :hack::grind: to fit :wink1:

Around 6" you may start to run into driveline angle issues (assuming this is a K5) so it can get $$ buying new shafts to operate at the angles with no vibes.

Options 1 and 2 are probably the most practical way to fit 38's with minimal trimming and without compromising center of gravity too much and snowballing the price with other required additional mods ie. drive shafts, steering etc.

Check out the sticky at the top of the page with tons of pictures of many different tire sizes on different lift combos.

Here is my Blazer on my old 37's with ~5" of lift and the front axle moved forward 1"

x2 With the bigger tires a lot of people don't even notice that the fenders are cut because it looks normal when the tire fits in the fenderwell.

Me personally I think it looks funny if the truck is lifted tall with little fenders and big tires :wink1:

I have alot more lift but i have the cut outs and the wheelwell is huge. Works nice with 39s....heres one for referance of how large it is with the flares. The fenders are cut almost right back to the inner fender.

Say Rebil79 , what size lift and tires , I like that look.
Right now its got 4 inch blocks in the rear with one extra spring, and the front is stock springs with an extra spring, and longer shackles (cant remember how long) Let me say that I did not do this lift!! This is how I got it. Gonna get rid of the blocks and do the shackle flip. Thinking about leaving the front as is since it actually rides pretty nice.

This set up fit 35s with no trimming and 38s with trimming.

You are right in your math. And it will work just fine. You would need to get front springs though. This is if you want to get 8 inches of lift.

Depending on how nice your body is... and if you want to cut it or not.
Dont mind cutting... go with the Bushwackers or just leave the cuts visible.

If the body is real nice and you only want to trim... go with a 1 inch body lift and zero rates. Probably the cheapest route.

No cutting at all... do the flip and new front springs.

My opinion an 8 inch lift is not that tall and would like nice.
