Hello -
I'm looking to put on a lift on my 89 Blazer. I just want to do a 2.5" lift and stick some 33's on. Not looking to go much higher.

My question is what is a good lift to pick up? I want one with new rear leaf springs (not blocks). I see Skyjacker has a kit on 4wheelparts, but kind of interested in seeing if there was a better one out there...?

Also, I have dual shocks up front. Do I need a kit that will have dual shocks for the front, or can I use a kit that has single ones?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Most people around here like Tuff country or BDS. Tuff Country has much lower spring rates in front so I went with them. You don't need to keep your double shocks, one works just as well. You shouldn't need steering correction or new brake lines with a 2.5". Another option for the rear is a offroaddesign 2.5" shackle flip for the rear, but it's a lot more work to install. Better ride though. BTW, getting the membership was a good start. You can do a ton of research by searching for different key words, you could start with shackle flip, axle wrap, dual shocks, pinion angle, greasable bushings.

i just put a 4" Rough Country lift on my 88. It came with new springs for the rear and dual shocks for the front. I went with rough country cuz they were the cheapest by a couple hundred dollars. I have yet to do any four wheeling yet but so far i am pleased with the performance and ease of installation. Check them out. Josh

I had Rough Country on my truck and now have Tuff Country on my burb. They were both quality products. The biggest difference was with the RC kit my truck felt like riding in a stiff lifted truck, and my TC kit w/shackle flip felt better than the stock suspension and a lot better than the RC. Also, the truck w/RC had some slight axle wrap from the lift blocks. It just depends on what your priorities are going to be for your truck. They are both good options. In fact almost any aftermarket lift springs will get the job done, they just have different benefits. What is most important to you?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. To answer Mini_mull's question, what I'm looking for is something that is somewhat capable, but still drivable across country (if I felt the need).

I'll have to look into the shackle flip. I see a lot of ppl are doing it. I had read a bit about it a long time ago with my old 85 Jimmy I used to own.

Anyways, thanks for the suggestions. I'm always open to hear more too...

New User w/ lift questions

Great site! I was trying to tight ass things by using this site for info without paying, but I finally realized that the best thing to do is use this site to it''s full potentail. I see alot of great information here.

I own a stock sitting '82 Blazer qith 31" tires. I have been doing a lot of research lately on different lifts and I was leaning towards the Tuff Country 2.5".
How is the ride with Tuff Country 2.5 EZ springs all the way around?

But I have not ruled out the shackle flip for the rear. Problem is I feel my stock springs are weak, forcing me to purchase a new set along with the shackle flip kit.

My plans for this truck are really mild off roading and pulling a 4500 lb camper trailer. Is this safe with a shackle flip?

Might be best to start your own thread as to not hijack Dinksters...
