Anyone here done a lift on the 1999 or similar 2WD trucks. I'm looking at a spindle lift from Rough Country. They claim it's a 4" lift. comes with spindles, 2" blocks for the rear, shocks, ect. $429.00.
I just hate the stance of it so low, the truck only has 69,000 original miles,4.8L,Auto.,loaded and rust free, I would love to sell it, but not much interest in a 2WD around here, besides, my Uncle left it to me after he passed away.
My plan's were the lift, locker in the rear, kinda a dirt road/pre-runner style thing.
What say Ya'll?:dunno:

this one ? http://www.roughcountry.com/chevy_2wd_99-06.html

shows 3" lift. but ya basic bolt in setup. and if me skip the cheep a$$ ubolts thay send and get some good ones from local spring shop and or place like www.offroaddesign.com all those lift kits use cheep hardware on the ubolts.

otherwise its a decent lookin kit and get gas shocks will ride better.

and the best lift in the ifs stuff is knuckle kits and thats what ya got there.

Yep, that's the kit. Truck has the 4.8L V-8, auto and 3.42 gears now,(I believe), probally gonna run 31 or 32 inch tire's. Shouldn't have to change the gears just for the running around I'd do with it. If it seems gutless I could always throw a set of 4.10's or so in it.
Some other thing's I'd like to do is maybe some kinda cold air intake, header's, exhaust, ect.
Thought about throwing a 5 speed tranny in it, but looks to be a regular pain in the a$$. (all the electronic $hit)
Gonna need some pre-runner bumper's and such also.

You may want to plan a full front end rebuild while doing thos spindles. i had a 2wd tahoe that drove fine up untill about 90k miles then the bushings started giving up.

I have lifted my 2wd Dodge preivously.. Some things yo keep in mind; when you get a set of spindles, they say "uses factory steering points or doesnt alter steering"--> be aware that even from a reputable company they may not be exact so you may need to get longer tie rods/ sleeves/ or extensions. You should also think about upper or lower control arms front ball joint angles. I had a ball joint break due to excessive angle and stress, also be aware of brake line length and ABS line length. If it used Torsion bars, you may be ok, but if you change the springs (if it has them) up front be aware f all of these things.. Its no fun watching a Tire pass you because you broke a component hitting a pot hole (ask me how i know)
