Going with Rough Country 4 in lift kit with rear springs ( No Blocks ) . The price and 4 leafs made me pick this lift kit . Is there anything I should replace on K5 while I am down there working on axles ? Any wore bushing ? I also plan on replacing the steering rods , etc while I am under it . I upgraded to longer braided brake lines to freshen up brakes . Also going to check out brakes and pads while down there .
I need some pics of 4 in lift with 33s . New to site so , still looking around to find out my answers . Thanks for ANY info , because I am LOST !!!

I think it has a 2 in lift now, not sure ? Just bought it and this is my 1st K 5 ever . I only gave $1500.00 for it running and driving , so I have some extra cash to fix it up . It runs and drives but needs TLC, to be road worthy . Its a 1974 model , with a 84 Chevy 305 truck motor . I wish it was a 350 , but that will come with time ... :D

I've removed 2 rough country lifts for people who said they rode to rough. Both were 4" and after riding in the trucks I had to agree. Replaced them with Tuff country ez ride from ord. Just my .02.

4 inch rough country with 33 12.50 15 allterrains.
I agree with everyone on here about the ride tho, mine was a rough harsh ride on all surfaces.
I would suggest ditching the sway bar and getting good shocks if you are set on that kit.
I swapped my front springs to tuff country and it made a huge difference in how it rides and handles.

I have always wanted a K5 sitting on 33s
All the stock stuff is weak and loose . Plus I am getting a
Great deal on the rough country lift. It's just a truck to leave at my cabin , so I will not drive it every day . I really want a different lift , but for the money . The RC 4 in lit is the only way to go . 4 leaf springs and kit retail to door is $600, my price will be cheaper . It the best kit for me now , because k 5 needs lots of work

What size rims , sweet K5 !!!!!

4" inch rough country lift
36x14 ground hawg's with trimming/bending.

a few people have already said it..... rough country = its gunna ride like a tank. i am planning on getting rid of mine sooner or later.

edit!

nice rig !!!! I am looking at Rough Country . I heard tough country rides better ?

woops! sorry. yea. my lift is -ROUGH- country. Rough country rides rough. You can bounce the entire truck off of a speed bump... almost no suspension movement at all.

Lots of people say -TOUGH- country rides better.

I'm obviously in the minority here but bought a R.C. 4" lift for my 88 Suburban and even though it rides rougher than stock, I don't really mind it that much. Its not a Cadillac so I don't expect it to ride like such. :dunno:

I bought the all spring kit too but my rear leaves are 56" while I ordered the 52" lift springs. I put blocks on the rear for now since I had to get it running before winter, but this spring I'm going to drop my tank, fix the sender while I'm there and grind the rear shackles off, move them forward and use the rear springs too.

I could've bought a softer riding kit but I like the R.C. kit and if I were to do it again, I'd buy the same thing. Your results may differ...

Thanks for info , If it was my daily driver or a true off road 4x4 , I might spend more money . I can not afford , to spend a lot on a lift right now . Plus I am getting below retail , so I am getting a really good deal . For the price I just have to give it a try . My buddy told me to buy kit and try to NOT buy the RC shocks , and go buy different shock . Is it the shocks people hate or the leaf springs people hate ?

save your money

don't settle on cheep cause you can .

and reason the burb rides nice is prob the extra body weight .

Not going to pay $1000.00 OR MORE for different name brand ( only paid $1500 for k5 :haha:) , when I can get RC kit for $400-$450 ( maybe cheaper ) to my door . Still waiting on price from my buddy ( he works with them ) , it will beat any price out there . Thanks for info ..... I just pray you are wrong !! :dunno: . I will let ya know , after I get it installed ! Its all about the money !!!! $$$$$$$ the BOSS is watching !!

who said anything about $1000 - up kits ?

I just got 3" hd tuff country springs shipped for under 400 bucks for the front pair this past summer.

I had lift already and was hard as a rock . so I swaped in these springs . the HD version since I plow with the truck and OMG what a difference.

but hay its up to you and your money . but we are all speeking from experience on this site and lots of us have swaped out rough country cause in the end the ride just sucked.

I can not find ANY 4 leaf spring kits , all 4 springs for under $1000.00
I do not want blocks on the rear , my rear leafs are weak . I know everyone is helping , but if the bank is empty , its empty . I must have rear springs , and stock rear springs at LMC are $$$ . So the RC kit fits the bill . SO .... if anyone can find a 4 in lift kit , with 4 leaf packs , u bolts , steering arm drop , complete kit . Let me know !!! I shopped for 2 hrs , never found a 4 leaf system under $1000 to door . Thanks for info and help . !!!! I just need K5 up and running NOW .

I paid 336 for tuff country springs shipped and 189 for a rear shackle flip, a raised steering arm is around a hundred and then just whatever shocks you want and it will ride nice.
