i am rewiring my 77k5 with an 84 front end on it. on the side of the front fender is that a blinker or a parklight? i can not remember for the life of me which is which.

Both, as are the parking lights in the grille.

they are both park lights and turn singals? the bulbs are single fillment bulbs. this would make a difference oon this.

Are you talking about the clearance lights? I think they just stay on, they may switch on and off, been so long since I have had working lights on my truck.

The side marker lights are signal lights and single filament. I haven't dug into them far enough to understand the way they are wired, but they will flash.
When parklights are off they blink normal, when parklights are on, they turn off with the on signal to the front signals. My guess would be a funky wiring on the ground, but as I said I haven't dug into them far enough yet.
