Limiting Steering Ram Travel

I've searched and found lots of references but no actual "how to" info.

How do you limit externally? Collar or clamp the appropriate size? If so, who makes these?

How do you limit internally? Tear it down and stack washers in it?? Any online how to write ups?

To internally destroke my 8" ram down to 7" I had a 1" billet aluminum spacer made by a guy on ebay. Billetcycleparts is his seller name. He had some Harley axle spacers that were close in size to what I wanted and I just had him build one to my spec. Was about $10-15 shipped I believe.
