I was at Swap Meet and found a Lincoln 175 for $500. It was brand new just out of the box. Does this seem like a good deal? He will warranty it for 30 days. He wouldn't go lower. What do you think?

That's a good price, but not a great price. You can buy them brand new all day for $50-$100 more.

I've seen the "Pro Pack" for $450 new at HD, but typically $500. He was probably just trying to get his money back out of it, or it fell off a truck.

I have the 175 HD setup with CO2 and I paid 300 but I bought it used. What other welders are you guys using? I notice with this rig I can't weld anything very thick. What have your experiences with this welder been?

What do you mean by thick? I can weld 3/8th with no problem

You get good penetration at 1/4 of an inch?? What were your settings? I am teaching myself how to weld so I am learning as I go. Are you using Co2 or an argon mix? Thanks!
