So, I started with doing a switch panel. I liked it, but once I drove around some with it, I really missed the cup holders.

So I went and purchased some expanding foam, some Alumilite epoxy, and a pair of marine cup holders.
Cut the cup holder area and the center of the console lid and filled it with foam. I cut the flanges of the cup holders to bring them together a little and fixed it together with epoxy. Also boxing out the lid for a pocket. Final was a little paint and then hitting the lid pocket with some bed liner finished it. Modern large cups and a spot for phone, glasses, and random stuff in the lid WITHOUT sliding off.

Thats awesome!! Where'd ya score the tray in the lid from?

Built it myself.
Cut a hole and filled the inside with the expanding foam. Then cut the foam oversized to leave room for the epoxy. Then formed up one side at a time and made the walls. once all four sides were done I did the floor of the pocket. Sanded it well for the bed liner, which was done over the top a little to give it a pocket look.
I can't decide if I wanna pull a mold of it to cast or if it simply would be better to do it as a vacuum mold type arrangement. No one around here is set up to do vacuum forming or mold casting. IF someone here on CK5 has the ability to get it done, I could go through the effort of making a single casting so that they could use it for production. Making a bunch for others is outside my capabilities.

Nice!! That's an awesome idea. I always tossed redoing the cup holders, but never thought about a pocket thing in the lid.

Found a before pic of how the switches were..........................

And how my ash tray currently sits (left plug for computer interface, USB charge port, 3 LED indicators, and a 12v port)

Looks awesome! I never understood the square cubbies/cupholders. That's very similar to the way our 2006 Tahoe console is in terms of function.

I liked your original switch panel. I think when I do mine I'll put it in an overhead console for an aviation vibe.

Yeah, I liked it too, right up till I decided the cup holders were actually more useful.
Then I gave it even more thought, came to the conclusion that the factory radio spot was perfect to place the switch panel. So I'm moving the switches to the radio spot.
Then I've put together a killer mount for a Galaxy Tab 3 to turn into my radio/media/navigation/travel camera. I'll get some pics asap, wife is calling me right now.

I won't have time this weekend to actually mount it in the suburban, but I have the Tab mount fabbed and ready to place in the truck.

First up, Galaxy Tab 3 and a Ram Mount Tab-Lite mount.

The Ram then mounts to a Blackhawk Quick Disconnect (holster mount) with it off-set mounted.

Zip tied to a shelf to give you and idea of how it works, it will be mounted just to the right of the vent and a/c controls area, and when horizontal will be above the passenger left vent.

Here you can see the Tab 3 camera clears the Ram mount so I can use it as a dash-cam also. And of course the important part, the media player (and video) will link to a volume knob and amp system through a Bluetooth connection.

Got the dash mount for the tablet done, paint is still drying. I'll get some pics and mount it up tomorrow. I'm pretty excited how it came out. Pretty clean design, if I say so myself.
