I don't believe you can eliminate the profile box on the left side, it displays for everyone when they past. Some accounts don't display an avatar pic but those are typically non premium accounts. In your "preferences" you can choose not to see other peoples signatures under posts but that's all.

Btw, you can change / delete the avatar pic (via User CP > Avatar) if you don't like it any more but the black box with your stats will still show.

Are you referring to the fact that it shows on the list of threads when you are looking? That is specific to each user, as far as I know, nobody else sees that except their own.
