Little problem with steering gear box

the power steering pump has an adapter that is screwed into the back of the pump. They come in 2 styles, the second being an o-ring style when you're mixing and matching parts, you need to be sure the adapter in the back of the pump matches the steering box... because you plan on changing hoses to the later style, you'll need to change that adapter to the later style.

Also, how do I loosen the column? Just the c-clamp bolt, or is it more involved? Thanks.

you will also have to remove the plate the covers the column at the dash. Then remove the two bolts that retain the column. pull it back and let it set on the seat.

In case anyone is interested, I found some adapters from http://leepowersteering.com/. They install into the steering box and allow you to use the flared lines. $30 for both, including the tool to tap them in. Worth the money to not tear everything apart again.
