Just an update on project torque. I burned up the transmission about a month ago. Well I pulled it and rebuilt it. I also bought some timbren rubber springs
AeonMv3.gif

I'll review these once their installed. I'm going to make an adjustible mount so I can have them touching the axles for street driving (recommended via manufacturer) and raise them for off roading. I think this may allow me to even jump with out hurting my springs. We'll see :wink1:
I also bought a b&m truck mega shifter, i'll post pics when it arrives and its installed.

I took video and pics of the whole tranny rebuild, but its so long its taking forever to edit. Anyway just keeping ck5 informed. I'll probably update this thread in a week with the rubber springs and shifter installed.

those springs are very interesting. Basicly a bump stop? Any more info on these and where to obtain them?

not really a bump stop per say.. there called "rubber springs" they deform much more, the ones I got for example have a
1500# working load,
5000 shock/max load (each)
3 3/4 inches tall normal
1 3/8 after compression
2 3/8 of compression
and go from 3 3/4 wide to 5 7/8 when flattened out

So their alot softer for a nice street ride

More like a cheap hydro bump the desert guys use? Were they originally designed as an overload? I like the idea. Really cuts down on the harsh landing when hauling ass.

yep az k5 you got it. Those are designed to be used as sort of an overload/helper spring type thing. A LOT of guys around here use them on the front of their trucks that they push snow with, to help carry the extra weight of the plow

used them...

My brother installed a pair of those on his car hauler he made out of a Ford Econoline E-350 cube van years ago..they worked great,no more bottoming out with a heavy load, and they do save the springs!..if I had any cash I'd have put them on my K20 for plowing, since its got only 2 leaves in the front springs--and it a diesel!..:eek1: ..

I thought GM would have put the HD 3 leafers up front in a diesel truck..but the rear springs are only 5 leafs too, must be a light GVW 3/4 ton!.. but it does ride nice empty, which it is most of the time..

these were about 85 a pair shipped but it seems they sent the wrong ones, i emailed them today about it
