I am installing a new compressor soon and I want to put new o-rings in at all the joints of my suburban. Does anyone know if the LMC o-ring kit is r134a compatible? I would rather spend $7 on the right kit as opposed to buying a 300 piece kit for $25.
Thanks

By the way, I have done some looking, but can't find a part number for a suitable orifice valve for the r134a setup, anyone have success with a certain part? All I can find is to get one "one size smaller"

All the new stuff is 134a compliant....you can get them at your local parts house for a lot less $$$$

Really? All I saw was a $25 kit that came with more o-rings than I will ever need. If I do go with the parts store, are our o-rings standard sizes or metric?

I got all of my OEM stuff from this outfit. Everything came without a hitch.

I think I was also a little light on the new o-rings so I found that Schuck's had a generic, O-ring kit that supplied a whole bunch of sizes and thicknesses. Pretty cheap if I recall correctly.

I am now 134a and all new gear! Definitely spendy though! Don't forget the POR lubricant.

I refitted two rigs in the past. I just bought the kit with the big assortment...had everything I needed, and then some. FWIW, on my sub, I just changed the rings in the engine bay where I changed the compressor and dryer...I left the rest alone.

I was just talking to the guys at the fitting/seal house I go to the other day about this. I saw a box of green o-rings on the counter and asked what they were for and they said they're for AC systems.
So if you have any type of seal and fitting shop near you check with them. These were loose in all kinds of sizes and you could just buy what you needed.

Cool, I wasn't aware that OReilly had smaller kits...I will have to look harder, or ask. Does anyone know if they are metric? I would take one off, but my system is still holding charge.

Thanks for the replies

I don't know...I did my 86 and a 88 I had, the hardware was both metric and SAE (from the factory)...not sure about the hoses and such:dunno:

green o-rings from orileys when i did my 134a conversion on my 83c10, along with new low pressure switch and orifice tube and drier. I think thats all, and now its colder than my buddys 07 crew.
