LMC headlights

Nice. Considering this myself.

Using the seat belts built into the seats or the stock Jimmy seatbelts?

Using the belts built into the seat. My stock ones didn't retract well, and didn't grab anymore, so they would have been useless in an accident.

How'd you brace the floors? We just plated mine with 3/16" plates all the way across the top. I kinda wonder if the floors should be more reinforced due to the extra leverage of the seatbelts being in the seat.

We plated the floors with 3/16 on the top, as well as the bottom, to prevent them from cracking, or having the bolts pull through. It should be as strong, if not stronger than the floor in the silverado was, so I am not worried.

I think I need to do the same. Did you remove some of the factory bracing underneath or just plate around it?

The only factory plates I removed were the ones that interfered with my new ones (the ones closest to the door IIRC). I will most likely remove the rest o the factory ones and weld up the holes later on when I have time though, but right now it's too cold out. Some of the factory ones had already been removed by the previous owner, due to the nuts on them being rust-welded to the seat bolts.

Isn't there a sorta built in cross member that runs under or around the area of the seat mounts? I forget and haven't looked at it in a while but I remember there being something like that where my buddy welded.

There is a cab support near the rear factory seat holes, but it did not interfere with the holes for the new seats.

for the drls, did you check your relay or fuse? My fathers 97 uses the lowbeams for drls, he has a fuse in the dash. My 01 s10 uses highbeams for drls and there is a relay under the hood, big square one.

Maybe just coincidence, that the fuse/ relay stopped working at the same time. Or you hadn't noticed yet till doing the headlight change.

It uses the highbeams for drls. They were definately working before I changed the lights. I have noticed that when I start the truck, the lights do come on for a second, but then turn off again, so I can't see it being a fuse, maybe a relay though? I am going to check with my multimeter tomorrow to see if I am getting any power to the lights when the engine is running.

It sounds like the relay is bad. Sometimes when they get old, instead just not working, the copper coil for the mini electro-magnet will get weak and will quit working when it warms up.

Tried a new relay, no change. I checked the fuse, and it's fine. There is no voltage across the socket for the drl fuse. I tried putting the old high beams back in, but the drls still didn't work, and now after messing with it all moring, the driver side high beam doesn't work. The drivers high beam has a purple/brown and a green wire going to it. The other side has a black wire and a green wire going to it. I have voltage from the green wire to ground, but not from the green wire to the purple/brown wire. :doah:Anybody have a wiring sqematic for a 91 with quad headlights? I just swapped in the quad headlight grille a few weeks ago, but everything had been working fine until I switched the headlights (and changed the headlight connectors) on Friday.

Well, I feel like an idiot. I had forgot to plug the relay back in, which is why the driver side light wasn't working. The relay has five wires going to it. I have voltage from the black wire (ground) to three of the other wires. I don't have voltage from the black wire, to the blue wire, however, but I forgot to check if the blue wire is grounded. I really need a wiring diagram; I asked the dealer, but they were no help.

A little red flag just popped up. Make sure you made all those connections correctly, as I thought maybe you had done something like this for the new bulbs.

I have triple checked everything, and compared the wiring with the old connectors I cut off. I only changed one connector at a time, and each one only had two wires going to it,with the exception of the driveside lowbeam, which had 3 wires (the two tan wires joined together inside the old connector). I am not sure why the ground on the drivers highbeam is a different color wire, or why that light quits working when the drl relay is disconnected. The existing wiring was also the same color as the wires on the new pigtails. I need a schematic to double check, but my service manual doesn't have one. I want to see where the wires on the relay go. I did do the 4-high mod when I installed the new lights, but disconnecting that relay doesn't change anything.

that light always quits working when the drl relay is pulled. I went through this when getting rid of my drls on my '01 s10. Normally though, I think I would just loose the one highbeam. It's been so long. I just ended up cutting pin 87 I think and replacing the relay. No more drls, yah!!!!

You said, the drls go on for a few seconds and then go back out? Does anything completely NOT work?

I got alldata now, so I have a schematic. There are some slight differences, but it seems to make sense. From what I can tell, It looks like the drl module under the dash may be the problem. I will have to do some more investigating when it is light outside. As I mentioned before, if I pull the relay, the drivers side highbeam goes out. Other than the drls, everything else works perfectly. :dunno: Would it help if I post the schematics on here?
