:dunno:i got all new autometer gauges hooked up to Painless wireing, i had to get a new oil pressure sending unit, will I also have to use a aftermarket fuel sending?. my gas gauge is way over the full mark.
I have read somwhere here that somtimes the bar holding the float pokes a hole in it and the float fills up. just wondering if my problem could electrical before i take down my tank. i do have an extra float tho. thanks for ur help.

Past full is high resistance (beyond the normal 90 ohms)

My guess is that it's not a sender issue, it's a bad connection issue. Clean up the electrical contacts in the fuel sender wire, or run a fresh wire from the gauge to the sender to confirm.

If that does not solve your problem.

What gauge did you get? Autometer has atleast 7 differnt fuel level gauges with differnt resistance levels. What is the part number? Gm's use 0-90ohm gauges.

if anyones cares(haha), i replaced the ground with new wire and location, got to finish up some electrical but the little testing i did, seems to be workin. thanks Greg72. i feel dumb for posting. but i wasnt sure about the gauge working with lmc unit. oh well live and learn. thanks agian

Glad you got it fixed. Just remember, the question is only dumb if you NEVER ask it.
